There are around 300 temples in Chiang Mai. Several are located within the historic old city walls. I decided to go to the free temples in old city. Each have SO much detail. The buildings are pieces of art. The ones I went to had varying interiors. Each unique. From murals on the walls, style, colors to statues in the temple.
In a courtyard of a temple and some religious sites, there was a stunning building statue with elephants lining the base and a golden roof. Elephants symbolize power, longevity, strength, and prosperity. Elephants are considered sacred creatures. Often correlated with royalty and good fortune.
